The Santa Diaries at Liberty Showcase Theatre

Liberty Showcase Theatre is a sponsored program of the Owings Mills Recreation and Parks Council of the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks. Its mission is to provide affordable, quality entertainment to audiences and hands-on enrichment opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels to engage in a collaborative, fun theatre experience. Ambler and Burt say this is the perfect group to launch the second production of The Santa Diaries, and are excited to see how Liberty Showcase will put their own stamp on the play. Ambler said, “Liberty Showcase’s mission fits right in with the story of what happens when a successful and self-absorbed Hollywood actor is forced to return to his hometown and direct the community holiday play. In the process he rediscovers the joy of  Christmas, a lost love, and learns to embrace his inner Santa. Since community theater is one of the themes of our play, this venue is perfect.”

This second production of The Santa Diaries was staged in a church basement, reminding us that community theaters come in all shapes and sizes. As The American Association of Community Theaters tells  us, "Community theaters involve more participants, present more performances of more productions, and play to more people than any performing art in the country."
